We are two childhood friends, Rolando and Marc, who at one point felt the need to turn our lives around. It was in 2014 when, through a Senegalese friend, we traveled far from our city of Tarragona, to Senegal, to see what we could do on this continent. Previously, we had already visited different African countries, always in tourist mode, but this time it was different: we met, lived and felt first-hand the reality that exists in Africa.
What we found was a society of friendly, hard-working people, eager to prosper, but with practically no means. After many comings and goings to the African continent, we met women's cooperatives that collected and produced a wide variety of natural products. That is when we discovered unrefined shea butter, a vegetable fat made by African women and with a large number of applications and uses. From here we decided to bet on exporting the essence of Africa to Europe.
A few years have passed since we started this journey, there have been many trips to Africa, many kilometers by bus, taxi and 4 × 4 along tracks to reach the most remote places where Afrinatur products are made, with many setbacks, with frustrations and endless anecdotes. Many hours of waiting and planning, many conversations with people in the markets, in the streets of cities where there are no sidewalks, in villages where telephone coverage or Wi-Fi is a utopia, but always in contact with genuine people, people who He gives everything without having hardly anything.
