SHEA BUTTER PREPARATION PROCESS

The whole process starts with the Shea tree. This is found in some regions of Africa, it takes 15 years to bear its first fruits and about 30 to reach full maturity.

From the fruit, edible, and the measure of a plum, the precious "nut" of the Shea is obtained, which is collected by women.

Once you have the "nuts", you extract the almond from the inside with a mortar mace, one by one ...

These almonds are left to dry in the sun.
The drying process takes several days.
They are separated based on their size and quality.

They are roasted over low heat.
They are then manually ground to a dark paste.

The fat is then separated from the reject.
Cold water is poured in slowly.
The mixture is stirred continuously for more than an hour until a whitish paste is obtained.

The essential fat is removed.
It is put into containers.
And it is heated over low heat to evaporate the remaining water.

Once in the liquid phase, it is filtered.
Let it rest and we have the Shea Butter.
